Game: There are fifteen multiple-choice questions of increasing difficulty in the style of the popular TV game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”

ⓘ This printable PDF worksheet for teaching idioms and idiomatic expressions in ESL is free to download for a limited time. You may also use the screen sharing version, with graphics based on the popular TV quiz show.

As the fifteen questions get harder, will your students know their idioms and be able to take home the million, or will they go home with nothing?
Detailed Description
With a printable PDF version and a screen sharing version (also ideal for online teaching), this game is designed to emulate the format of the popular TV quiz show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”. Students go through 15 multiple-choice questions, each one harder than the last, to test their knowledge on English idioms and idiomatic expressions. You can make the game easier for them by allowing them to recover lifelines, you can work as a group, or you can have students compete against each other to see who gets further. Have fun with it, but: Don’t let the cat out of the bag! (…or was it ‘Don’t let the dog out of the doghouse’?)
