It’s a tough one, isn’t it? That subtle difference between ‘get in’, ‘get out’, ‘get on’, and ‘get off’ always catches learners out. This B2-C1 ESL printable worksheet and lesson plan offers students a greater use of phrasal verbs relating to transportation, as well as introducing more vocabulary related to getting around the city.
Detailed Description
Students start answering some questions which teach them key vocabulary. They then go on to see three conversations which they’ll have to analyse and fully understand the phrasal verbs to understand what’s happening. After this, there’s a focus on the phrasal verbs and matching opposites. Modes of transport come next, and which go with ‘on’ / ‘off’ and ‘in’ / ‘out’. They finish with a final speaking activity. There is also a word formation activity which is great for either homework or a pre-class activity (for a flipped classroom) and for exam practice.
