What is “fast fashion”, and what is it doing to our planet? This ESL lesson plan for B1-B2 students talks about fast fashion and the impact that it is having on the environment.
Detailed Description
The class begins with a kickoff activity followed by a vocabulary matching exercise. This is followed by a speaking activity where students discuss their own clothing habits and opinions on fashion trends. A quiz on fast fashion provides shocking statistics about waste and pollution caused by the fashion industry. The class ends with a speaking activity where students match problems with possible solutions and discuss ways they can implement sustainable practices in their own lives. Students are encouraged to consider solutions such as upcycling, second-hand shopping, and supporting fair trade companies. Finally, students reflect on their learning and consider ways to incorporate sustainable practices into their own lives.
